Drum Dog at the Europe Drum Show 2025: Our Highlights, Hot Takes, and Why You Shouldn't Miss It

Welcome to the very first Drum Dog blog post! We're stoked to have you here. Whether you're a longtime Drum Dog follower or just wandering in for the first time, sit back, get comfy and let's talk drums. Specifically, let's talk about our recent trip to the Europe Drum Show in Germany - an amazing experience all round.

What Even Is a Drum Show?

If you’ve never been to one, here’s the lowdown: a drum show is basically heaven on earth for drummers. Think all the latest gear, chances to actually play that gear, masterclasses with world-class players and hanging out with fellow drum nerds (aka our kind of tribe). It's all about cool kit, education, and community - which, not-so-coincidentally, is what Drum Dog is all about too.

Big Kits, Big Sounds: Our Show Floor Favourites

The Europe Drum Show had a massive show floor - bigger than most UK shows - and we wasted no time diving in. Here’s a quick hit list of the stands that rocked our world:

Yamaha: Always a favourite. You know we can't resist a Recording Custom kit. Punchy, classy, feels like home.

Roland: That new V71 electric drum module? Very impressive. If you’re into electronic kits, it’s definitely one to check out.

Sonor: Their 150th Anniversary kits… wow. Gorgeous craftsmanship, vintage vibes, modern fusion depths. Plus, those bubinga wrapped finishes looked jaw-droppingly good.

Ludwig: We fell hard for the Classic Oak kit. 24" bass drum? Yes please. Vintage feel with modern punch.

DW: The Collector Series SSC Maple - gold on gold - was one of those "sounds mad but works" moments. Thunderous, huge and totally unforgettable.

And… confession time: We might still be daydreaming about that Tama anniversary Bell Brass snare. Absolutely gorgeous, and worth about as much as a small car. One day, eh?

Innovations That Stood Out

If you've ever tried to hear a cymbal on a noisy show floor, you’ll know the struggle is real. Sabian, however, nailed it this year. Instead of a noisy booth, they set up a private room where you could book a slot, sit behind a kit and really listen to their cymbals properly. Genius.

Top tip: if you're heading to the UK Drum Show or next year's Europe show, book an experience room session early. We bet Sabian won't be the only brand doing this soon.

Live Clinics & Legendary Performances

When you weren’t geeking out over gear, you could catch some serious drumming royalty:

Mike Johnston delivering grooves as tight as ever. Mickey Dee reminding everyone why he's a rock legend. Christoph Schneider (basically throwing a mini Rammstein gig!) And the mind-blowing Benny Greb, who closed the show by inviting the legend that is Steve Smith up for an impromptu duet - absolute magic.

Honestly, moments like these are what make drum shows unforgettable.

Still Stuck Behind the Kit?

If your doubles are sloppy, your grooves feel rigid, or your ghost notes get lost in the mix — it’s not your fault. You’ve been trying to fix the wrong things.

🎧 Ralph Rolle (drummer for Nile Rodgers & Chic) reveals the exact lessons most drummers skip… but every pro nails.

In just 8 crystal-clear videos, Ralph cuts through the fluff and gives you the breakthroughs YouTube never could.

  • Doubles that feel right

  • Grooves with flow

  • Ghost notes that hit

  • Bonus: Shuffle, hip-hop feel & clinic jam

Here’s the kicker:

You’ll feel better behind the kit — and your band will hear the difference. All for less than a pair of sticks.
