Summary: Legendary session drummer Steve White breaks down the art of creative drumming by focusing on what really matters: feel, musicality, and simplicity. Recorded live from the UK Drum Show 2025, Steve's masterclass demonstrates how powerful ideas come from mastering the fundamentals and applying them with intention - exploring concepts like paradiddle accents, developing fills from rudiments such as paradiddles, and creating multiple groove variations from a single sticking pattern. With insights drawn from decades of professional experience, he shows how to move fluidly around the kit, adapt ideas across styles like rock, Motown, and funk, and transform “meat and potatoes” playing into something expressive and musical.
